Course Sponsor Information

SUBMIT YOUR COURSE APPROVAL

Licensees are required to complete a certain amount of continuing education hours each year in order to maintain their Louisiana PT/PTA license.  All courses that are being used for credit, must be approved by the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board.  Courses may be submitted for approval either before or after the course date but must be submitted within the same calendar year.  Sponsors may submit their course through the Course Sponsor Dashboard.


SET UP A COURSE SPONSOR ACCOUNT

Once your information has been received, an account will be created and login information will be sent to the email address provided. 

 *If your organization has previously created an account and the individual responsible for submitting courses has changed, please disclose this so the account can be turned over to the new person responsible for submitting courses.

Please be sure to fill out all fields on the application to help our committee members review applications in a timely manner. Please do not enter "see attached" in any text field.

 


REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

Have the following items readily available before you begin your application:

  • Course Objectives
  • Presenter(s) C.V.s, or resume. Please limit presenter qualifications to 2 pages.
  • Detailed time-based program scheduling, including all scheduled breaks (used to calculate contact hours). If the scheduled hours include readings, a word count will be required. If videos are used, the total run time is needed.
  • Sample participants' evaluation
  • Sample certificate of completion
  • Minimum of 3 evidence-based citations

**Course citations for clinical courses shall be no less than 3 references of articles published in peer reviewed journals related to the field of Physical Therapy that were published within the last ten years. Citations for administrative and ethics courses shall be no less than 3 relevant references, which are not required to be from peer reviewed journals, and were published within the last 10 years.

  Approvals are for an annual basis (Jan-Dec) and can be done retroactively for a current/previous year or proactively for the upcoming year. 

  Documents may be uploaded in either PDF or Word Doc formats.

Courses less than 8 hours  $100 (per course)
Courses 8 hours or more    $150 (per course)

FAQs

How long are course approvals for?

Course approvals are for one calendar year (January – December) only. It does not matter when the course is submitted, approvals apply retroactively for the entire year as well. Approvals can also be done retroactively for a current/previous year or proactively for the upcoming year.


We're offering courses as both in-person and live webinars. Do we need separate applications?

If a course sponsor submits a course that is offered both live in-person and as a live webinar, and there is not difference in the course content, hours, instructors, etc., then one course application may be submitted for both.


Is there a minimum length the courses will be approved for?

Courses must be a minimum of 1 hour in length. Course hours will be rounded down to the nearest quarter hour.


I received a notice that my application was insufficient. Is it denied?

No. If a you receive a notice of insufficient information for a course application, this is not a denial. Instructions will be provided for you to update your application and resubmit for consideration at no additional charge.
